Yoga Nidra

Welcome to the fascinating world of Yoga Nidra! This ancient yogic technique, also known as “yogic sleep,” embraces the art of deep relaxation and awareness. Unlike regular sleep, Yoga Nidra combines physical, mental, and spiritual aspects to achieve a complete state of relaxation and restoration.

Who is Yoga Nidra for? Simply put, for everyone! Whether you're a yoga practitioner or have never touched a yoga mat, Yoga Nidra can help you reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and experience deeper levels of peace and serenity. It offers relief to those struggling with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other stress-related conditions.

During a session, we go through eight steps. These eight steps of Yoga Nidra are essential for achieving maximum effect.

The first step is to become aware of our breath, without altering it. By following the natural rhythm of our breath, we activate our parasympathetic nervous system and calm our mind.

During the second step, we become aware of the space we are in, our senses, and our bodies. We perform a comprehensive body scan, encouraging awareness, relaxation, and letting go.

In step 3, we create an intention, a Sankalpa. You can think of this as a positive intention for and from within yourself that gains extra power by carrying it into your subconscious. You plant a seed there that you water continuously, even after the session, so that visible change ultimately blossoms.

In step 4, I take you on a journey by helping you visualize images. We mentally create a calm, beautiful environment that fully aligns with the theme of the session. Visualization appeals to the imagination, intuition, and creativity and helps to release blockages, release tension, and reconnect with yourself.

Step 5 focuses on your emotions, feelings, and the contradictions within them. Here, we bring our attention to contradictory feelings and sensations to become aware of our internal balance. We create space in our minds and give space to our thoughts and emotions. This form of awareness teaches us to deal with our feelings differently and brings calm to our mind and peace to our body.

With step 6, we enter the "in-between" state... A state of consciousness between sleep and wakefulness. The everyday has temporarily faded into the background, and new insights gently trickle into your consciousness. This is where you can let go... this is where new ideas, insights, and solutions emerge.

Step 7 gently brings us back to our Sankalpa. We reiterate our intention to promote and welcome positive change.

Step 8 is welcoming ourselves back into the present moment.

The order of these steps may vary per session.

With the final step, we take the time to slowly awaken our body and mind. We gently bring ourselves back to the space we are in and bring movement back into our bodies.

Yoga Nidra offers a true oasis of calm in our hectic lives. It helps us heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually by tapping into deeper layers of our consciousness. It's a wonderful way to connect with your inner peace, your self-healing capacity, and find balance in your daily life.
