To achieve balance, one must learn to pause and allow the body to breathe.
SERVICES
What do we offer?
Yin Yoga Therapy®
Sometimes when someone asks you how you're feeling, you often say you're fine, even when you're not. Often, something is happening in your body. Your body reacts, your nervous system reacts.
Pain, tension, shortness of breath, a change in your heartbeat, a sick feeling in your stomach, numbness, you name it. Your body is communicating.
These reactions, emotions, and signals have something important to say, if you're willing to listen. Trauma is stored in our bodies, in our fascia, and in our nervous systems; "Our issues are in our tissues." In Yin Yoga Therapy®, we explore the signals your body gives off and you learn to listen to what your body is telling you.
Restorative Touch
We live in a world increasingly driven by technology and distance. We text, email, and call, but the fundamental human need for physical touch (especially in the West) is increasingly fading into the background. This has a profound impact on our well-being. A paradox prevails in our modern society: we long for connection, yet simultaneously have become increasingly afraid of touch.
Touch is more than just a gesture; it has therapeutic power. For people who struggle to allow themselves to relax, restorative touch can provide the safe haven that words cannot. It helps relax the nervous system and releases trapped emotional and physical tension. This form of healing, which makes no demands and has pure, caring intentions, can bring about a profound shift in body and mind.
Sound Therapy
Throughout the day, we are constantly exposed to sounds. For the most part, we don't even notice that we're almost always physically responding to the sounds around us. What we realize when we listen consciously is that sounds, music, and vibration influence our mood. Our entire nervous system reacts. Think, for example, of how certain songs can affect your overall state of mind.
Sounds are not only heard by our ears but felt throughout our entire being. Sound healing also uses the power of vibrations to reach every cell in our body. Theories suggest that stressed cells change frequencies and develop uncoordinated vibrations relative to the rest of the body. Sound healing can help restore cells to functioning in harmony.
Yin & Flow
In it to Yin it
In Yin Yoga we work on flexibility and mobility in our Yin tissues (connective tissue, tendons, joints and ligaments) and strengthening our bones. Because these are not elastic tissues it is important that the muscles around the connective tissue are completely relaxed.
In contrast to other forms of yoga, we therefore hold the poses for a longer period (at least 3 to 5 minutes). We move into the pose until we feel resistance. When we reach that limit, we pause and give our body the time and opportunity to open up more and invite us to go even deeper into the pose. From there, we may go a bit further, or we may stay where we are. As long as we do not experience real pain, we remain in the position, accepting the discomfort we experience at that moment and letting gravity do the work.
Come flow with me
My Slow (Vinyasa) Flow classes are good for full body flexibility, but at the same time it is a great class to release tension and get in touch with your body.
We move very mindfully, in connection with our breathing and we open ourselves up to release tension and allow relaxation.
We work on the flexibility and mobility of our body and we eliminate tension. You give yourself the space to eliminate the tension you want to let go of, on a physical, mental or emotional level.
Reiki
Truly everything is imbued with energy. As humans, we have always been fascinated by this energy and its power within our own bodies and the world around us. This energy that flows through our bodies goes by many names, such as Chi, Qi, or consciousness. At the moment of conception, this energy permeates our bodies and is the intelligence that helps each cell divide and find a purpose, becoming the trillions of cells that make up our magnificent body. Chi is the life force energy, the breath of life, just like prana in Indian culture, pneuma in ancient Greece, mana in Hawaiian culture, Manitou in Native American culture, and more.
Our bodies are constantly engaged in healing and seeking balance. It is the energy that resides within us that helps the body heal aspects of itself where needed. In the distant past, our ancestors possessed an innate wisdom they used to heal themselves and maintain vitality. Over time, with our focus shifting to what lies outside ourselves, we seem to have lost the ability to see clearly within and connect with our bodies.
